Alison Kinnaird MBE – Art In Glass
August 4 - August 28
Edinburgh Festival Fringe Exhibition
August 4th – 28th • Daily 10am – 6pm
Fringe Venue 244 • Shillinghill Studios, Temple, EH23 4SH
Tel: 01875 830 328 • email: email@example.com
This solo exhibition of Alison Kinnaird’s art includes engraved glass ranging from small intimate pieces to larger architectural projects. She combines the ancient technique of wheel engraving with the cutting edge technology of LED lighting to introduce light and colour to the images. It will be an ‘open studio’ show, where visitors can also see Alison working on the glass.
Shillinghill Studios are in a converted church, dating from 1832, in the historic village of Temple, which was the headquarters of the Knights Templar in the 14th century. The church is Alison’s home and glass studio, as well as the base of Temple Records, which specialises in Scottish and Irish music.
Getting to Temple: the village is a picturesque 25 min drive, south by the A7. Turn right onto the B6372, when passing Gorebridge. Satnav – EH23 4SH.
The recently opened Borders Railway runs conveniently from Waverley Station in Edinburgh to Gorebridge, 2 miles from Temple. We can arrange some transport from Gorebridge station to the exhibition for individuals and small parties (up to 4) if required, but please call in advance to organise this (01875 830 328). It is also a pleasant walk if the weather is good.
