Dear Friends,

This year the Association of the Symposium of Engraved Glass organises International Symposium of Engraved Glass in Kamenický Šenov – for the 6th time.  In 2014 the traditional Symposium will be arranged in more compact scale than before.  From 15th to 21 st September Kamenický Šenov will host 21 invited glass engravers – 7 from Czech Republic, 7 from abroad a 7 students of Czech and foreign schools).

We would like to invite you to participate at the event.  If you are interested please confirm your participation at

Working part of the Symposium will be realised at Glass School workshops.  Invited engravers are admitted to bring also one finished work that will be exhibited together with  work executed during the Symposium.  Exhibition will be opened on Saturday 20 at 2 p.m.  Works donated to the Museum will become part of permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.  Along with the exhibition of new works the Museum will present works of previous Symposiums (1995 – 2008)  that were donated to Museum´s collection in a special exhibition opened on the same day.

From September 22 to September 24 the Symposium will be followed by optional workshop – School of Jiří Harcuba at Glass Work František in Sázava where new Centre of Glass Art was recently opened.  Information at

  • Admission fee 100,- EUR covers work in Glass School workshop, social events and lunches at school cantine
  • Accommodation is at participants own expense (please find accommodation options attached)
  • Glass raw material will be provided by a leading Czech glass company Moser, Karlovy Vary. Selected items will be at your disposal in advance at
  • Theme of the symposium is unrestricted and free.

Monday September 15th
10 – 11:30 a.m.  Opening of the Symposium at Glass School
11:30 – 12:30  Lunch
12:30 – 6 p.m.  Work at School workshop
7 p.m.  Meeting at pub

Tuesday September 16th
8 – 11:30 a.m.  Work at workshop
11:30 – 12:30  Lunch
12:30 – 3 p.m.  Work at workshop
3:30 – 7 p.m.  Participants´presentations (10 min. per each)

Wednesday September 17th
8 – 11:30 a.m.  Work at workshop
11:30 – 12:30  Lunch
1 – 5 p.m.    Optional visits of local engraving workshops

Thursday September 18th
8 – 11:30 a.m.  Work at workshop
11:30 – 12:30  Lunch
12:30 – 4 p.m.  Work at workshop
4 – 6 p.m.  Pétanque game tournament (in a good weather)

Friday September 19th
Open House at Glass School, visit to Preciosa Lighting company
8 – 11:30 a.m.  Work at workshop
11:30 – 12:30  Lunch
12:30 – 5 p.m.  Work at workshop. Program for weekend guests: visiting School and local engraving workshops (own transport necessary).
5 – 7:30 p.m.  Discussion about the present and future of engraved glass
8 p.m. Garden party

Saturday September 20th
10 – 12 a.m.  Brief presentations
2 p.m.  Exhibition Opening
6 p.m.  Party

Sunday September 21st
9 a.m.  Departure for Sázava Glass Art Centre – exhibitions of Jiří Harcuba and IGS.  Evening return of those who will not participate at School of Jiří Harcuba in Sázava (September 22 – 24).

Changes of the program may occur.

Participation at slide show and presentation on Saturday 20th is open for all Symposium participants and guests with limitation of 10 slides and 2 minutes for each, max. 60 participants. Please register
