Back on Tour:
Riihimäki to Coburg 2019 – 2020

Modern glass engraving is on the road again across Europe. This time a new group of artists from the Glass Engraving Network, some of whom participated in previous Network exhibitions, will be showing their work.
This time the exhibition will be in the Finnish Glass Museum at Riihimäki from August to December 2019. It will then move to the European Museum of Modern Glass at Rosenau, Rödental-Coburg, Germany, where it will be on show from April to November 2020. The engravers in this exhibition come from Sweden, Finland, Germany, Estonia, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Austria, Romania, Belgium and the Czech Republic. They represent the diversity of contemporary European glass engraving in both artistic and technical terms. The work on display ranges from the best of traditional engraving to cutting-edge experimental pieces that extend the boundaries of what we mean by ‘glass engraving’.
Some of these pieces bridge the gap between glass engraving and glass cutting; others take the craft technique close to the world of fine art. The subjects range from the finest design-led decoration to expressions of contemporary concern about the way we live now. This is glass engraving as a living, dynamic activity. Welcome to the Glass Engraving Network at work!
